This is an awesome background, though! ("Though" because of what I just said in my reply to you over on my journal.) It really matches the contents of the header itself -- the same scratchy, wonderfully gritty feel.

I also like the new shade of red you've got on your header bars. Very nice!

Bugger. Lj is playing me for a tool... >_<

Stock background? NEVER! *swishes sword*

I stole this layout for my other journal, but I put a bright red background on those headers. It looks brighterish. [Bad username: 5inyoureye"]

I'm trying very hard not to completely spam you. I want to read MY story at home where I can squeal and writhe appropriately, but I also want to read it RIGHT NOW.

Spam is great, if it comes from certain parties! ;)

I've been playing with gradients, since I kinda like the idea of a plain background -- however, my gradient-making skills suck, so I came up with a clumsy-looking one at kavalka. You can even see the different colors, lol.

That said, I'm interested in seeing your backgrounds; basically, anything you're happy with, I'm happy with, because your skills are so much better than mine!

Bad username...? Lemme know what the place is!

Actually, screw the gradients. Your scratchy-squares background beats any old gradient hands-down. I just had another look at it and I really do like what I see...

Yes, I too like... well not so much plain as reserved background. So to speak. ^_^ I'm glad you like the scratchy one! I like it too, although that curve is bugging me, it's throwing the flow into disarray. I think I'll redo it without the curve.

Sometimes gradients seem to move as I'm watching them and it drives me insane. Yours isn't though, so that is a good thing definitely.

Yay for scratchiness! I'm all for the gritty feel -- very shounen. XD

But what's this curve you're talkin' 'bout? I don't see no curve...*confused*
txilar
Aug. 6th, 2006 06:34 am (UTC)
Scratchy... hm, that should be a category in my music uploads! 'Gritty scratchy section.' Only I'm not sure what can go in it.

Ah, I see the curve, or rounded edge really, because I know it's there. If you examine the repeated pattern, you'll see a larger gap of dark about 2 sections above two rather bright dashes - - in the horizontal bar. Coming out of the right side of one of the horizontal bars is a bit of a curve. It's really bothering me. Um, you don't really have to look that closely. ^__^

What browser do you use? Does it change on you like it is on me? I haven't been drinking anything tonight so it's not me! IE7 is just bloody bizarre. Firefox looks ok though.
the_dystopian
Aug. 6th, 2006 02:23 pm (UTC)
Lol, I still can't see the curve...Although that might be because my monitor's ancient. I've got the latest version of Firefox, so I don't think it's a browser issue...It's probably just my hardware. I mean. My computer's hardware. XD

Hey, btw, you inspired me to do a bit of fiddling on kavalka...The layout's still weird, but I thought I'd try out a blue/black header. I still prefer yours, 'cause it's snazzier and grittier, but if you get frustrated with reds and wanna try something different, then I can send you the blue/black "Yukikaze" wallpaper that I used for the header. I thought a mecha/space-age-ish kinda design might also suit our purposes.

Gah, time to sleep! I have work tomorrow, so it might be a while before I can get my next installment of porn ready...XD

Sleep is important. It is. I tried to do without it this weekend and finally gave in. I'm patient. Work and sleep first. Porn after. ^_~

Ah, I LIKE that pic too! Very cool. I will definitely play with that. I saw a template I'd like to tackle so I will try a new thing altogether.

Just ignore my pixel-fixation. I'm self medicating.

I swear I'm gonna go to sleep now...It's just so difficult to pull away from teh pr0n!

If you're curious about where I got that spacey pic from, it's from here:

http://www.snapdrive.net/files/29329/Shounen%20Daily/wallpp.jpg

So if you wanna play (or self-medicate through pixelation, lol) that should give you some scope. It's a pretty large image with lots of focal points to choose from.

Haha, so I guessed you fixed the username! I like this new background, but I must say I'm especially floored with the header image there. Wow. Very Bedouin, very poetic. Holy cow, if you made that yourself, I should hereby declare you my God of Code...

And on top of that lj's not sending me every 4th comment.

Oh thank you so much. The background is one I used to use on my txilar account, but that header, well, I'm a bit of a ... habitual header maker. I made that one some time back and finally thought to use it here. 'Bedouin' Yes! The Orient often permeates my imagery. ^_^ I'm really glad you like that.

It's more than just skills...You've really got a feel for the right colors that go together and make something look beautiful. Like I said, I'm really pathetic in the color-matching department, and I'm what you might call an aesethetic retard when it comes to art, so I really appreciate that understanding of aesthetics in other people, lol.

*SCREAMS*

Ohmigawd! I just dropped by and saw this AWESOME layout, and now I'm SCREAMING with joy! Haha! It's lovely! So smooth and shiny and space-agey. The header really makes my day -- makes me feel like I'm taking off along with those spacecrafts, lol. I've always been a Trekkie, so maybye that's why space ships have such an effect on me -- but DAMN. This is gorgeous. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

*smooches you all over, and then some*

Well now that I know how to make you scream...

Really? You like? Brilliant! That picture is so awesome I just couldn't do anything to it. I tried to layer some effects on it and whatnot but it just didn't work so I left it pretty much as it was (had to uh, compensate a little.) and had fun with the text instead.

What about the background? Can you see it? I also have this, but it there is a weird spot (when it repeats) I have to edit out: http://pics.livejournal.com/txilar/pic/00031p78/g19

*smooches back*

Oh yeah, you have no idea how loud I screamed...My neighbors probably thought I was being murdered, lol. (Or that I was having crazy-good sex. XD)

I like that its left similar to the original image -- the magic here is the angle you've got it at, which really captures the feeling of taking off. :) I love it.

I also love both backgrounds! It's up to you to choose whichever one you think is best, since I'm pretty much overwhelmed right now. XD

Thank you so much! Although now you've fried my brain so much that I have to recover before finishing our porn!

Oh an out-loud scream eh? Even better! The neighbours should always be kept on their toes. I mean, if they like that kind of thing.

Y'know, I came back here to look at Teh Shiny and to rub my lustful hands all over it, and I have to say that I also love the way you've used colors on the entries (the red and the pale blue and the black). Just like the space ships in the header -- what a perfectly matched color scheme!

And I can't even match my socks, lol...
txilar
Aug. 9th, 2006 03:04 pm (UTC)
Rub all you like!

I have a theory on colour. My mother disagrees, but it goes like this: if it's a colour, it matches the other colours. Except yellow.

I purposely mismatch my socks because once, long ago I had a red one that lost it's mate and a blue one without a mate. It seemed natural to pair them. Then suddenly a green and purple one had nowhere else to turn...

*points your lustful hands at... shiny new icon!*
the_dystopian
Aug. 9th, 2006 06:52 pm (UTC)
That's a useful theory! Lol, it's the only one that could ever apply to me! I have no idea about "complementary" colors...

It's amazing how socks do that to us. It's like there's some huge Sock Conspiracy or something...I bet they all plot secret escape routes out of our wardrobes. XD And if they ever get caught, they can always say: "I didn't do it! It was my evil twin!"

And now I'm just being silly.

SHINY ICON! *GRABS IT AND LOVES ALL OVER IT*

Hey, the next part of your epic porn's almost done. Should be up tomorrow...In fact, it's actually finished already, but I haven't edited it yet. I have to make sure that I haven't misspelled "prick" as "pick" or something, because...Ow.
the_dystopian
Aug. 9th, 2006 07:02 pm (UTC)
Oh, and I love the new background! The stars look very random, if you know what I mean -- it doesn't look obviously tiled, an effect which is hard to achieve with stars. They're brighter, too, and...shiny! Everything's so shiny. *GLEE*

Let me know whenever you're done with the code (no hurry, really!), but whenever you're done, I'll make Shounen Daily look utterly beautiful with your work. XDDDDD

omg don't wear yourself out with porn! I mean... you know. Don't force yourself. Um... I mean, don't push... forget it. Keep going!

Oh yay, you saw the background and like it, woo! I have about six or seven--I kept rearranging the stars. *pedantic, persistent and pixelated*

So lessee, looks ok on IE6 and Firefox yeah, so... uh, you really think it's ok? *nerves* Really? I just posted a lot of test posts to see what it looks like 'full'. Unless you have any other alterations-and it's ok if you do!-then I think I'm ok with it.

YIPPEE!
Okay with it? Honey, I'm more than just okay with it! Lol, I've been grinning like an idiot non-stop since I saw the layout, and I've been itching to put it up! Then I can show it off to everyone and say that my God of Code (txilar) is cooler than theirs.

So yeah, anytime you wanna give me the code, I'm willing and ready to receive it. XD

And everything I'm saying seems to have a sexual connotation. Damn the porn that's eating my brain!

See, I try to make everything I say sound like that. I think maybe it will be easiest to email? I'll use the address on shounen's page. It will come from me at yahoo, my 'daytime' email. Instructions, should you choose to accept, shall be contained within. ^_~

And you know, better porn that those brain sucking things like from Futurama

Weehoo! *goes to look*

While I'm thinking on it, I do think it would be nice to note the template maker, though they don't require credit (good karma and all.) The first layout had two things I just could not get (since found a comm!) that the template solved (though it created like, three more, but I fixed those.) Anyway, it's absonant.

Oh crap. I hope that doesn't mar my divinity, because I'm holding you to your strikethroughs. ^_^

Re: YIPPEE!
ok, i noticed something looking at the friends view, which probably isn't a big deal, but, i'm a little bit, um, pedantic. (i couldn't possibly say the 'a' word, it's far too late)

if someone makes an excessively short post, the dashed line under comments crosses over their username.

it can be fixed by changing the padding from 2px to 22 px: [padding-top: 22px;] in comments { which is almost at the bottom. it's one of the last longer clumps of code.

i looked in IE7 (hiss, but it looks ok) and firefox. sorry about that! i never thought to look at my own friends page on that journal but of course, no one is there, and on my other journal, ha, no friends! ^_~

i hope i'm being clear, i should be asleep, but no no, i had to read 'just one more chapter, only one more, ok NOW i'll read just one more.'
